Kurgalzhino Nature Reserve, south of Astana

Posted 1 year ago by avatar chimpy in response to skip's question: Hey there...Does anyone know some nice places (outdoors) around Astana where to spend the day? (give a different answer) .

You could visit Kurgalzhino Nature Reserve, which is situated about 150km southwest of Astana. This natural park includes numerous lakes, which makes it an important water-bird habitat. I got the chance to see the beautiful pink flamingos there, birds that migrate to the Caspian Sea during winter. As the place is set up for ecotourism you could even stay over night there. The park entry costs $10, and board and meals from $6 to $10 per night. I wouldn't miss the experience if I were you:).
